Hi there could anyone give me an explanation of the Definition of Danah Boyd and Nicole Ellison about Social Networking Sites?

“We define social network sites as a webbased service that allow individuals to (1) construct a public or semi public profile within a bounded system, (2) articulate a list of other users with whom they share a connection, and (3) view and traverse their list of connections and those made by others within the system. The nature and nomenclature of these connections may vary from site to site ”

Im form the netherlands and i dont know what a bounded system is or traverse. I need to translate it and explane it in my thesis… So if anyone could help it would be great!
